While the multi-track equipment was indeed on its way from SF to NY during these two shows, that doesn't occlude cassette masters from having been recorded. Indeed, some SDB material has appeared on the Taper's Section of dead.net

incredible bird song!
never thought an acoustic version could rival a few electric readings of '72 or '73 but this version is fantastic...
like the others i have reservations about the recording quality but its totally listenable and not a reason to pass this up!

According to an interview with Betty Cantor-Jackson, recordist for The Grateful Dead in the Taping Compendium Vol 2, these shows were not recorded by the band. The recording gear was being moved from San Francisco to New York to record the Radio City Music Hall shows after the Warfield shows in San Francisco... Sorry. No SBD recorded.

Saenger acoustic sets
This is a phenomenal acoustic set, its a shame the sound quality renders it somewhat of a challenge to enjoy.
The New Orleans acoustic sets have a different vibe, the instrumental breaks are more creative, even jazz like. This Bird Song is pretty neat!

Years ago, I heard an interview with Jerry where he said the real magic of that 80 acoustic tour was caught in the two New Orleans shows. He was commenting on how the dead always blew it at the big events and even they never knew when that certain something that keeps everybody coming back was gonna happen. Apparently, he felt that the true dead magic was not caught in Warfield or on Reckoning. Since then I have tried to acquire these NO shows. This is HOT. The most smoking acoustic dead I have heard. If only there was a SB or a good sounding AUD. Still, Jerry is all over it. Best Jerry acoustic guitar(if you can decifer it well) until Garcia Grisman. Worth the download.
